I have a Barrnet rev avi crossbow, can I shoot 20″ Bolts, what is the difference between 20″ and 22″ bolts?
As long as they are 16″ you are legal. Other than that, I have a Ten Point Profusion 175lb and shoot 20″ bolts. They seem to fly much better than longer or shorter bolts. I do make shots up to 60 yards at whitetail (accurately) and the 20″ works great. The 22″ seemed to not fly as well since I have a Horton scope that has the 5 increment settings. -it would be high at 20 and 30, but hella low at 50 and 60. One thing to always take into consideration is that your broadheads (especially Guillotines for turkeys) clear the foothold. Other than that, that’s all I got for ya. Hope it helps. Good luck!!
Basic Details: Combat level 103. 75 Range.
What NPC should I train on to get 99 range? Any suggestions for what equiptment to bring as well when training? (Location of NPC) I would like to know a pretty decent way to get 99 (xp wise) and cash affordable way to get it. Under 5M would be great. (so monsters that drop items + xp for buying new arrows, or bolts.) Thanks and please be specific.
ahhh
there are three basic ways to train range and they all make good profit, cause i dont do anything without a profit
Method 1:
Aviansies
Required Gear : Armadyl item, 60 strength or agility, zamorak item, saradomin item, rune c’bow, broad tipped bolts, and some good ranged offence/defence armour (plenty of people use obby shields, but u can go with a god book instead if u want to).
there are guides on youtube
just search for Aviansies Tank guide (the one by xxphatmagexx is great)
Method 2: Fire giants
Preffered Items: Void Ranger set (from pest control), bronze – steel darts/knives
and u should do waterfall quest to enter the waterfall dungeon
bring a rope and glarial’s amulet
once you get through, go north through 2 doors, and close both of them after you’ve been through them and start attacking fire giants
Method 3: Slayer
Do your slayer assignment with a magic shortbow and steel – addamantite arrows or with a rune c’bow and broad bolts
out of all the mechanical broadheads out there, people have their own idea of a nice head. is there a particaular one that the majority just feel is the better fieldtip characteristic flying broadhead? i wanna know who thinks what is the best and is it supported by others ..?
im trying to buy some but don’t know which heads to choose. i just want a penetrating wide enough cut head without alot of tuning and for the broadhead to not control the arrow flight so much.
I have been using Aftershock Archery’s Hypershock for about 4 years and can find no fault with them. I have shot several deer and turkeys with them and have had excellent penetration and good blood trails.
There design makes sense to me, it can’t help but open and it’s simple. They have a long forward section that has to penetrate before they open thus eliminating the bounce off that some of the forward mount blade designs experience. After penetrating they use simple mechanics to open. They also fly true, my bow required no tuning to shoot to the same point of aim as my field tips.
My experience with them has been good and I will continue to use them.
Anybody who Hunts with Arrows, which do u prefer, Crossbow or regular Bow for Hunting and why ur preference ?
I use A compound bow for the early season, then I go to a traditional bow during the colder snowier late season.
I have use a crossbow, I only see the advantage that one is not holding a bow at full draw while waiting for ones quarry to move from out behind a tree.
There is now more greater range or actually power when using a crossbow over a regular Compound or traditional bow. This is because the fact that the limbs on a crossbow though more powerful are shorter so the energy transferred into the bolt is shorter because of design. whereas an arrow from a conventional bow has more time in the energy build up while being let loose.
Look at it like this
Two Dragsters one a top fuel {crossbow} the other a Alcohol burning {Conventional bow} . both launch off the line perfectly at the same time, but top fuel shuts down half way through the run, the alcohol fueled goes full power to the finish line.
What I am trying to put across is that the Bolt from a crossbow may seem more viable as far as speed and power but it is short lived. It doesn’t have any greater range over a bow.
as I get older and my shoulders get weaker I may end up using a crossbow… but I hope that won’t be anytime soon.
