Compact Crossbow

Asking about a 30-30?
I am going to purchase a Marlin 30-30 and I was wondering what is the ideal scope (if i get one at all) to put on the rifle? I was thinking a red dot. Also would a bi pod be going over board for such a rifle? I just really find having a bi pod comes in handy. Meaning would it be to big for such a small rifle, not small but compact (even though the two mean the exact same). Oh and I want to say thanks to all who answered all my questions from before. Y’all are a huge help. Instead of the remington 700, I got the Weathrby VG1 .308. Instead of a crossbow, I got the Red Head Kryptik compound from bass pro.
A Marlin M-336 in .30-30 WCF is a pretty darned good choice for a deer rifle, especially if you keep it’s limitations in mind and don’t try to use it as a beanfield rifle.
In days gone-by, I’d have snorted at the thought of scoping a .30-30. But as my eyes age and fail i can see the utility of scoping any rifle. You really don’t need high magnification to make the 200 yard and less shots you will be making with your Marlin, so 9x is about as powerful as you need. IMO, a 2-7x or 3-9x variable scope would be the most you would need and a fixed 4x or 6x would be just as good and cheaper than a variable power scope. I highly recommend Leupold scopes. You can spend more money but you won’t get a better scope than a Leupold.
I don’t like the Red Dot sights. In fact I don’t care for any firearms accessory that requires batteries.
Adding a bi-pod to a levergun not only offends the ascetics of the rifle, it also ruins the handling qualities that make leverguns so fast handling and well balanced. I’d recommend a shooting stick, either buy the Steady Stix someone else mentioned, or cut yourself a good straight sapling about an inch or inch and one half in diameter and long enough you can rest your rifle’s forearm and your support hand along side it when standing upright. A five or five and one half foot staff should serve well.
Good Hunting,
Doc Hudson
