Cross stitching is so relaxing. It also gives you a great sense of accomplishment and pride to show off your finished pieces. Best of all, it is so easy to learn.
There are two types of cross stitching: 1. Counted Cross Stitch This type has a pattern to follow. 2. Stamped Cross Stitch (No Count Cross Stitch) This type has a design that has been pre-printed onto fabric.
Each square on the pattern contains a symbol that represent a stitch. Different symbols represent different colors of floss.
There are six steps to begin cross stitching: 1. Find the center of the graph. For most cross stitch patterns this is shown with arrows or a bold line. 2. Find the center of your fabric. This means to fold the fabric in half vertically and “pinch” with your finger to make a small crease. Open the fabric, fold in half horizontally and make another “pinch”. Open the fabric up. The two creases will mark the center of the fabric. 3. Start cross stitching close to the center of the design. This makes it easier to frame the finished piece. 4. Bring the threaded needle up from the back of the fabric. Stitch the next 5 or 6 stitches over the tail. Clip off extra thread. 5. Don’t leave a loose tail. Weave your needle back through the last 5 or 6 stitches and clip the thread short so as not to leave a loose tail. 6. Do not make knots on the back of the fabric. Don’t make knots on the back of the fabric when starting or ending your stitching, as the knots will make lumps on the fabric and will not allow the piece to lie flat.
Remember to relax as you stitch and do not pull the thread too tight. Your stitches should lie flat on your fabric and not distort the holes or the fabric.
When your stitching is complete, wash in cool water using a mild liquid detergent. Do not wring, but roll in a clean towel to absorb most of the water. While still damp, place face down on a terry towel. Place another cloth on top of the needlework and press lightly with a warm iron. Let dry. Then frame or finish as desired.
So, those are some tips from me to begin your cross stitching. Happy Cross Stitching!

Crossbows have become one of the more preferred choices by avid archers and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Just as there are a number of different sports where crossbows can be used are there a different varieties of crossbow designs to choose from. Some of these crossbows may be specific in their usage while others can be rather flexible. If you are looking to purchase a crossbow either in archery specialty stores in shopping malls or over the Internet, here are a few things you may want to first consider:
Purpose
The first thing that you would need to consider is first and foremost what will you be using your crossbows for? Are you looking into simply getting into archery as a hobby and would be using the crossbow more on target shooting? Or are you planning to use the crossbows for outdoor sports such as hunting or fishing? Crossbows come in a variety of weight and power. Heavier and more powerful crossbows are ideal for sport hunting and fishing. If you are merely looking into target practice, try getting simple, basic crossbows instead.
Consult your License and Other Regulations
If you are looking into purchasing crossbows to use for hunting and fishing, make sure that the crossbow that you are looking into meets the requirements specified in your hunting and fishing license. Some state government agencies that are in-charge of overseeing the hunting and fishing zones within your state have also a set of regulations with regards to the kind of crossbows and other archery equipment that can be used for fishing and hunting. You can contact your local parks and wildlife agencies within your state with regards to such regulations. Some of the information about crossbow use regulations is also readily available over the Internet. These websites would also provide you information where to get additional certification and other requirements that you may need before acquiring your very own crossbows.
Do Your Research
There are a number of archery specialty stores in shopping malls and sports equipment stores that offer a variety of different brands and models of crossbows. Do not just rely on which one is the cheapest or what the local store assistant would offer. You can check on the reviews of these crossbow brands over the Internet to decide which one will be the most likely investment for you. Also ask your friends who are using crossbows for hunting, fishing or target shooting. This is to make sure that you get your money’s worth when you purchase your crossbows.
Warranty
Over time, your crossbows would need to undergo maintenance and repair. Because of this, make sure that you get your crossbows from a store that would offer a reasonable length for the warranty coverage. It is important to also check the coverage of the warranty that is included when you purchase your crossbows and its accessories. This is because since a crossbow is a very complicated equipment to manufacture. As such, the absence of a warranty may cost you to spend an arm and a leg when the time comes that you need to have this repaired.

I want an airsoft gun really bad but my dad won’t let my have one because he thinks it is “too violent”, so I’ve been trying to make a powerful lego gun. I would use rubber bands, but they snap too easily, and springs have more potential energy, anyway. The problem with my design is that I can’t find away so that I can cock the gun, and the spring stops once it is pulled back to a certain point. I’ve tried putting up little plungers or studs to block the spring from shooting forward, but then my problem is that for the plunger to go up the cocking device can’t be there. I was thinking of making some sort of one way gear, but that hasn’t been working. Exact plans would by nice, but just a general idea of what to do will help more.
And in case anybody was wondering… *cough cough*
I won’t shoot my eye out.
So any paranoid old moms here
*cough cough*
don’t answer please.
Try searching in google for a lego forum and ask the people there.
